Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness is the sequel to WarCraft: Orcs & Humans. It was originally released for DOS in 1995 and later for Mac and Windows.
The game takes place after the Orc campaign of the original Warcraft. The Orcs have conquered Stormwind, built a mighty navy and now threaten to invade the rest of Azeroth.
The Stormwind survivors fled north and now prepare to face the Orcs together with the other Human kingdoms as well as their new allies, the Elves and the Dwarves.
With regard to gameplay, Warcraft II leaves WarCraft’s forumla intact, but adds naval combat as well as aerial units.
Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness received critical acclaim. Later on, an expansion pack named Beyond the Dark Portal was released as well.
